About the event
The EUTEx final event and conference marks the final stage of our 18 months of dedicated work.
It is the culmination of our research in which we produced a comprehensive and specialised training course for psychologists, social workers and educators in prison and probation services working with extremist or terrorist offenders and an enhanced risk assessment tool which can be used for monitoring, disengagement and reintegration purposes.
During this event, we offer an exclusive opportunity to gain an inside look at the course and tool, accompanied by expert assessments from esteemed European institutions focused on prison and probation. In addition, a keynote speech by Prof. Peter Neumann will provide invaluable insights into current and future challenges pertaining to extremism and terrorism, directly impacting our work with terrorist and violent extremist offenders.
Your presence at this momentous occasion would be greatly appreciated. Join us as we delve into the depths of our findings and explore the implications for our collective efforts.
Background information:
As we work towards preventing terrorist and extremist violence, the question is not whether disengagement and reintegration work, but how to do it best. Building on a unique evidence base of European best practices, the EUTEx project developed a specialised course for social workers, psychologists and educators working in prison, probation and NGOs with individuals convicted for terrorist and violent extremist offences. The course was piloted with frontline staff from 11 European countries, has an e-learning as well as an offline component and includes an enhanced risk assessment tool: the risk and strength rehabilitation model.
Disengagement and reintegration is the more complex way to prevent violent extremists and terrorists from striking again. But it is the only sustainable way.
